Responsabilidades:
Introduction
The Applications Engineer will serve as a key technical liaison between customers, sales, and the product development teams, providing in-depth application support for optoelectronic components and systems. This role combines technical expertise, customer interaction, and problem-solving to ensure successful integration of the company’s products into customer applications.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in optoelectronics, photonics, or semiconductor device physics, along with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Application Development- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for optoelectronic components, including laser diodes, photodiodes, LEDs, sensors, and optical subassemblies.
- Understand customer system requirements and recommend appropriate products, configurations, and integration methods.
- Develop and validate reference designs, evaluation boards, and demonstration systems to showcase product capabilities.
- Support troubleshooting, performance optimization, and failure analysis for customer applications.
- Collaborate with customers to translate application requirements into product specifications and performance targets.
- Deliver technical presentations, training, and documentation to customers and field teams.
- Act as a technical bridge between customers and internal R&D or manufacturing teams, ensuring customer feedback is incorporated into product improvements.
- Conduct optical and electrical performance testing of devices and systems to verify compliance with customer requirements.
- Support design-in efforts by simulating, modeling, or characterizing optical and electrical behavior under various use conditions.
- Assist in creating application notes, datasheets, and technical white papers.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and product management to define new product features and specifications.
- Participate in new product introduction (NPI) by providing feedback on design suitability and real-world performance.
- Contribute to competitive benchmarking and technical market analysis.
Cualificaciones:
Core Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in optoelectronics, photonics, semiconductor devices, or sensing technologies.
- Strong understanding of optical device principles such as light emission, detection, modulation, and coupling.
- Hands-on experience with optical and electrical characterization tools (LIV testing, spectral analysis, power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of optoelectronic systems integration, including optical alignment, thermal management, and signal conditioning.
- Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools, MATLAB, Python, or COMSOL).
- Understanding of optical communication standards, photodiode linearity, noise characteristics, and laser safety principles.
- Experience interpreting customer schematics, technical drawings, and system block diagrams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer-focused attitude with the ability to build trust-based relationships.
- Effective collaboration in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
- Experience in laser-based systems, optical sensors, or fiber-optic communications.
- Knowledge of semiconductor packaging and thermal management for optoelectronic devices.
- Exposure to industrial, automotive, medical, or defense optical applications.
- Familiarity with embedded systems or firmware integration for optoelectronic control.
